Boz
Boz graduated from The University of
Illinois' Urbana campus with a Bachelor's of Science degree in May of
1978 and is a financial consultant with offices in Northbrook, Ilinois.
His website is ScottBosley.com.
Born in Chicago to a family of sports enthusiasts Boz truly believes
that you pick your teams and stick with them for life through thick and
thin. (He's also a Cubs fan.) Unfortunately there has been a bit more
thin than thick.
"My first recollection of visiting campus was when my sister
was a freshman. I remember it was a Dad's Day weekend late into the
fall because the weather was cold, damp, cloudy, and windy. I also
remember watching a Purdue team led by All American LeRoy Keyes just
beating the living daylights out of the Fighting Illini that Saturday
afternoon. A check of the records book indicates that game was played
on November 4, 1967. I was eleven years old and construction of I-57
wasn't even completed. Purdue won the game 42 to 9 and LeRoy Keyes set
a Memorial Stadium rushing record for visiting players with 231 yards
(he ran the ball 21 times and had 3 touchdowns.) To date, that was the
third most rushing yards in a game by any player at Memorial Stadium
behind only Red Grange (212 yards vs. Michigan 10/18/1924) and Jim
Grabowski (239 yards vs. Wisconsin 11/14/1964). LeRoy Keyes went on to
lead the nation that year in both touchdowns (19) and points scored
(114). He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Gary Beban
and O.J. Simpson."
'"Ironically, almost ten years to the day, I was a twenty one
year old intern with the Athletic Department working in the press box
on November 11, 1977 when a bruising fullback from Minnesota named Kent
Kitzmann shattered all Memorial Stadium rushing records with 266 yards
on 57 carries! Only Ron Dayne of Wisconsin has rushed for more since
(288 yards on 11/23/1996)."
Boz has been present for his share of Illini Football and
Basketball games including the Rose Bowls of 1984 and 2008 and the
Final Fours of 1989 and 2005. Of course, his most memorable moment was
being at the 2005 Regional Final at the Allstate Arena, in Rosemont,
Illinois with his family.
